The Future?

I guess my peeps have wondering, where in the heck have I disappeared off to now? I guess thats a valid question in the past because there was no telling where I was going to be, day to day; just the occupational hazards of being an international hooper. But to the astonishment of these wonderers of "where are they now", questions; I have been right at home. I know, I know, but I had a laundry list of issues to address right here on the home front e.g. being close to family and friends, starting a life you know little things like that.

Anyway, I have started my coaching career in typical Benson Callier fashion, that is, from the bottom of the barrel. My first coaching experiences was more so as a glorified fan! This year I followed a young Lakewood Boys Basketball team in St. Petersburg, Florida. I watch them from start to finish with the perspective of a coach. I must admit I kind of liked it. In this position I learned a lot about player development and what will be successful at the high school level and most importantly how to maintain that balance of respect and have fun at the same time with the guys. Weird thing is, with all of the adversity and growth through the season, we managed to take our district this year with a very young team.

So here I am after a season watching players in St. Pete and the surrounding region, I saw many players but I must say the players to watch out for in the future became evident. So who's next? I guess I will have to find out soon enough, I am holding a combine for talented young players ages 7-14 in St. Pete, Florida. You know how I do, The Pro Experience is in full affect! If you have a young one between the ages of 7-14 and you live in the St. Petersburg, Florida area sign up online at www.theproexperiencebasketballcamp.com or email me at benson.callier@gmail.com.
